Sound Problems

Post: # 74212Post StarLite

Good day fellow creators,

I'm making great progress with Roanoke, but I'm having a bit of trouble with a few voice sounds.

I used Audacity to record the voices for my game. They used to work but all of a sudden about 3 of the female voice text lines won't work. When I play them back in the media file area they work fine, but when I run the test game and play the game, the voices are silent.

I tried re-saving the recorded voices as a wav file but they still won't work. Any help to solve this problem would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

mhh. :/

Only these 3 voicefiles do not work? So that at the moment when the problems occurs you can still hear all other voicefiles?

Anyway, what you can try is start the setup of your created gme and uncheck "Hardware EAX". Sometimes this solves some soundproblems.

Hey Zimond,

At the moment as far as I can tell it's only 3 ogg files. This is the furthest I've gotten in this game so there could be more. I'm really flying on this project now and very pleased with the results I'm getting. I'll try running the setup and see what happens. Thank you for the reply. Take care :)

I had a similar problem with one sound file. I played around with the bit rate and converted it from stereo to mono (or the other way around, don't remember), then it worked again. Maybe that helps you, too.

Hey Benni, I'll check out those oggs and see. When I recorded the voices I had to fool around with different rates to get the effect I was gong for. Thank you for the info. :comp:

Good day fellow creators,

Just wanted to pop by and jot down this message for someone having the trouble I did with sounds. I still couldn't get the sound to work after I turned off the EAX in setup, checked and made sure the ogg file was mono.

So what worked was, I renamed the ogg files and it worked fine. I hope someone else having this problem will find this message helpful. Thanks again. :comp:
